You say you were born this way…..you say this is how you feel you should be this is who you think you are . It strange because nowadays , when the topic of sexual orientation and identity comes around , people shy away but i really want to say something.
I was born this way…..i’ve heard it said and read it so often as the explanation for homosexuality . Now there is almost no other sinful behaviour that has been more accepted by society and even the church than homosexuality. I sit and wonder and ask myself why, we can preach about fornication , not living with someone till you are married but we can’t talk about the gays. Is it because they say they were born this way …….But Christ said be Born Again! He didn’t say be renewed , be restored , or have a change of mind or heart. He literally means become a completely different person! We were all born a certain way , tainted from birth by sin straight from Adam , we all came out with our sinful crutches and things we needed to deal with. Im not saying those who are not gay are perfect , I’m saying we are not making excuses for our sinful nature, we are ready to see Greed, sexual immorality like fornication, pornographic addiction , anger, selfishness, hate, murder and all manner of wrongdoing as what they are……wrong .But when it comes to the topic of Homosexuality we start to take a nice liberal view ….a soft stance. Those who speak out get hit with the very same question all the time….so are you saying that homosexuality is a sickness , and are you trying to cure it. No ! Im not calling it a sickness , I’m calling it what it is-a sin. I’m not judging anyone who is gay , because the same judgement you met out will be meted to you . what i am concerned about is how we are willing to accept it as something it isn’t. It isn’t ‘ok’ , it isn’t ‘how they are’. if someone is really greedy and selfish , we can say that that is how he is , yes , but with Jesus that’s not how he has to stay. Jesus says be born again! become a different person. We as human beings are limited to help others change but that’s why we have Jesus. He left a powerful Holy Spirit behind , because we can not make changes to our lives by our own strength. Its scary to me , when we as Christians can deduce and deduct blessings from each scriptural word , but we somehow seem to overlook the sin that is written plainly and boldly from the Old Testament to New, and ill list a few.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. we were made perfect. I feel i should have been a woman/man is really not a valid excuse to undergo risky surgery to change your sex. Feelings change. Anyone who has dated for more than a month knows this very well , feelings change. What if in a month, a year , 5 years , you feel you should have stayed a man or woman, what then, change again? but that’s not the point i want to make . Our identity is in Christ. If you don’t know Him , you can’t know you and you can easily be swayed by all sorts of thoughts and feelings. If you are not rooted or grounded in Christ , you don’t know the truth ….about yourself , you don’t know the way ….your life should go and you don’t have the life God wants you to have …Jesus is the truth , the way and the life. You can’t be who you were purposed to be if you don’t know the one that gives purpose.
